How much does tree removal cost on the Gold Coast?
There is no honest flat rate. Price is driven by height, trunk diameter, what sits under the drop zone, how far debris has to be carried, and whether a council permit is needed. A small tree next to the driveway might be a couple of hundred dollars. A large gum over a pool with no side access is a different conversation entirely. We quote on site for free and put a fixed number in writing.
Is the quote really fixed?
Yes. What we quote is what you pay. The only thing that changes the price is if you change the scope, for example adding stump grinding on the day or asking us to take a second tree while we are there.
Do you charge for quotes?
No. Site quotes are free and there is no obligation. Formal arborist reports are a separate paid service because they take days of work rather than twenty minutes.
How do I pay?
Bank transfer, card or cash on completion. Commercial and body corporate accounts can be invoiced on terms.

Do I need council approval to remove a tree?
It depends on size, location and species. As a general rule you need approval if the vegetation is over 4 metres tall or 40cm or more in girth measured 1.4 metres above the ground, or if it is identified on the Vegetation Management Overlay Map. There are exemptions for vegetation close to a building, along an existing boundary fence, near a pool fence, or where the tree is genuinely hazardous or a listed pest species.
Will you handle the application?
Yes. We assess whether you need one, prepare the application, provide the Level 5 arboricultural report if required, and lodge it. Incomplete applications are the most common reason people are left waiting months.
What does the council application cost?
Applications start at $240 for 1 to 30 trees, lodged with the City of Gold Coast. That fee is separate from our costs and goes to council.
Will I have to plant a replacement tree?
Frequently, yes. Council commonly conditions approval on replacement planting. We will advise you on suitable species for the position so you are not back in the same situation in fifteen years.

How long does a removal take?
Most residential removals are completed in a day. Larger or more complex jobs run to two or three. You will get an accurate timeframe with your quote rather than a guess on the morning.
Do I need to be home?
Not necessarily, as long as we have access and there is nothing we need a decision on. Most customers are at work. We will call you when we finish.
What about my pets?
Keep them inside or off the property for the day. Chainsaws, chippers and falling timber are not a safe environment for a curious dog, and an open gate is a risk we would rather not create.
Will you damage the lawn or driveway?
We plan for it. The tracked Spider Lift spreads its weight, we lay protection over soft ground, and the mini loader carries debris rather than dragging it. Any risk of marking is discussed before we start, not after.
Can you access my backyard without a side gate?
Usually yes. The tracked Spider Lift is built exactly for that and fits through most standard gates. Send a photo of the access with your quote request and we will confirm before we book it.

How do I know if my tree is dangerous?
Watch for a lean with soil cracking or lifting around the roots, dead limbs over the house, hollows or fungal brackets at the base, cracks in major limbs, and any change after a storm. If you see any of those, get a qualified arborist to look at it.
What is the difference between lopping and removal?
Lopping is cutting the tree back to reduce its size or remove hazardous sections while the tree stays. Removal is taking the entire tree out, with stump grinding as an optional extra. If you are unsure which you need, we will tell you honestly on the quote.
Can you work near powerlines?
Yes. The crew is qualified for work in the vicinity of powerlines and utilities, and we coordinate with the network provider when a job requires it. Never attempt this yourself.
What happens to the wood and debris?
Chipped on site with our Bandit 150XPC and carted away as part of the job. If you want the chip left as mulch for your garden beds, say so on the day and we will blow it into a pile at no charge.

How fast can you get here in an emergency?
Normally within the hour on the Gold Coast. During a major storm event we triage, so anything involving a house, a person or a live powerline goes first. The 24 hour line is 1800 004 656.
Do you work with insurers?
Yes, we are CM3 accredited for insurance works and we provide the photographic evidence, documentation and itemised reporting insurers ask for.
What should I do before you arrive?
Keep everyone away from the tree and anything it is resting on. Do not go on the roof. If a powerline is involved, treat it as live, stay well clear and call Energex on 13 19 62 first.
