Garden beds

Fine textured, holds moisture beautifully through a Gold Coast summer and breaks down into the soil. The default choice for established garden beds and around natives.

Soft fall pine bark

Play areas

Graded bark for under play equipment where you need cushioning underfoot. Also popular for pathways and informal garden edges.

Forest budget mulch

Large areas

Coarser mixed mulch for covering big areas economically. Excellent weed suppression, ideal for acreage, embankments and behind the shed.

Mulch questions

Mostly about quantities.

Getting the volume right saves you a second delivery fee, so it is worth measuring properly.

How much mulch do I need?

A rough rule is one cubic metre covers about 10 square metres at 100mm deep, which is the depth most garden beds want. Measure the length and width of the bed, multiply them, and divide by ten. Tell us the number and we will confirm it.

Do you deliver?

Yes, across the Gold Coast. Delivery is tipped in one pile at the front of the property unless there is truck access to where you actually want it. Let us know if the driveway is tight or there is a low branch over it.

Can I have the chip from my own tree?

Absolutely, and it costs you nothing. Tell the crew on the day and we will blow the chip into a pile in your yard instead of carting it away. Fresh chip is best left to break down for a few months before it goes on garden beds.

Which mulch for which job?

Tea tree for garden beds and moisture retention, soft fall pine bark under play equipment where there is an impact requirement, and forest budget for large areas and weed suppression where appearance matters less.

Is mulch worth it in a Gold Coast summer?

It is the single best thing you can do for your garden here. A good layer cuts evaporation dramatically, keeps root zone temperature down through February, and suppresses the weeds that take over in the wet.
