A removal is not finished until the stump is gone.

Plenty of operators drop the tree, take the money and leave you a stump in the middle of the lawn. We grind, we backfill, and we leave you ground you can actually use.

  • Ground 200 to 300mm below the surface as standard, deeper on request
  • Stops regrowth permanently on species that would otherwise sucker
  • Removes the trip hazard and the termite habitat next to your house
  • Leaves flat, plantable ground ready for turf, garden bed or paving
  • Grindings raked back and levelled, carted away, or left for mulch

What it costs

Priced on diameter and access, not guesswork.

We measure across the stump at ground level, look at how we get the machine in, and check for anything buried. That is the whole calculation.

Small stumps

Under 300mm

Fence line stumps, palms and small ornamentals. Often done as an add on while we are already on site for other work.

Standard stumps

300 to 700mm

The usual backyard gum, jacaranda or poinciana. Grinder in, ground out, backfilled and levelled, normally within the hour.

Large and multiple

700mm and over

Big old trunks, root flares and clusters. Bigger machine, sometimes the loader as well to shift the volume of grindings.

Every stump is quoted individually and in writing. Grinding booked at the same time as a removal is always cheaper than calling us back out for it later.

The machines

Matched to the stump and the gate width.

Narrow access grinder for side gates, larger unit for big trunks, and the mini loader when there are grindings to move.

Stump grinding questions

Asked most often.

If your stump is somewhere awkward, send a photo through with your quote request and we will tell you straight away whether we can reach it.

How deep do you grind?
Standard is around 200 to 300mm below the surface, which is enough to kill the stump, stop regrowth and let you turf or plant over it. If you are laying a slab, putting in a pool or planting a replacement tree in the same hole, tell us and we will go deeper.
What is left afterwards?
A hole filled with grindings, which is a mix of woodchip and soil. It will settle over a few weeks. We can rake the grindings back in and level it off, cart them away entirely, or leave them for you to use as mulch. Your call, just say which.
Can you grind a stump in a tight spot?
Usually. Our narrow access grinder fits through most standard side gates. Stumps hard against a fence, a pool shell or a retaining wall need a look first, because there is a limit to how close the cutting wheel can safely get.
Do you grind the roots too?
The main lateral roots near the stump, yes. Chasing every root across the yard is not practical or worth paying for. Once the stump is dead the roots break down on their own.
Can I just leave the stump?
You can, but it will sprout on a lot of species, it is a trip hazard, and it becomes a home for termites and borers close to your house. If it is out of the way in a garden bed, no drama. If it is in the lawn, grind it.
